Summer & High School Transition

Over time, students begin to…

grow a strong foundation for the year ahead, allowing students to begin school with greater confidence, stronger academic habits, and a clearer understanding of what successful learning looks like.

Build confidence before the school year begins.

Starting high school—or preparing for a more demanding year of English—is about more than completing summer assignments. It's an opportunity to build the habits, confidence, and mindset that help students see themselves as capable learners from day one.

For students preparing for ninth grade or looking to begin the school year feeling confident, organized, and ready for increasingly challenging coursework.

Together we’ll work on:

  • Summer reading and annotation

  • Literary analysis previews and refreshers

  • Writing fundamentals

  • Organization and planning

  • Reading and writing routines

  • Practicing the habits that build confidence before the school year begins

Students leave with:

  • Effective annotations habits

  • Literary analysis toolbox

  • Stronger writing routines

  • Confidence and tools for approaching new academic challenges
